Review: Magic Under Stone
Magic Under Stone by Jaclyn Dolamore
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Beautiful book. True to its name it's like a magical spell you have to uncover. The characters are so real that I was actually worring sick of Nimira's preoccupations. Lovely lovely fairy tale. It feels like a true homage of all the wonderful stories from fairies and princes but framed with a wonderful not too romanticized story full of true human emotions and feelings involving not too human characters.
The story starts where Magic Under Glass left out Nimira and Erris are trying to make sense of what it means for Erris to have a human+clockwork body. They go to another necromancer's home to try to make Erris human again. And we are acquainted with Ifra, a jinni who will show us what is happening in fairy territory. Its constant jump from each characters POV was very well crafted by the masterfully skilled Jaclyn Dolamore. I really enjoyed this book and will definately recommend this series to anyone who wants a dose of fairy tales with a hint of rawness. This is obviously a YA novel, so be prepared. I will warn you though... You could develop a liking of mushrooms after you finish this story.
